A person’s issue are the person’s lineal descendants.1 An adopted individual is included in the issue of each of his or her adoptive parents and of all individuals with regard to which each adoptive parent is a lineal descendant. A child conceived prior to the death of a parent but born after the death of the deceased parent is considered to be among the issue of the deceased parent. A person’s foster children and stepchildren are not the person’s issue unless the person has adopted them.
